Ground Cuscus occurs in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. The numbers decrease. Threats include predation by feral dogs and hunting with dogs. This is the most commonly hunted cuscus species, hunted extensively for meat, for use in traditional medicine, and for pet trade.
